Hua Lamphong Train Station

Hua Lamphong Train Station (สถานีหัวลำโพง) is actually the unofficial name to the Bangkok Railway Station (สถานีรถไฟกรุงเทพ) or Krungthep Station, but is now a name widely used by locals, foreigners, in guide books and the media. Be aware that in all official documents such as tickets, timetables and leaflets printed by the State Railway of Thailand the station is referred to as Krungthep Station.

The construction of the railway station started in 1910 and took six years to complete, opening on the 6th of June 1916. It was designed by a man called Mario Tamagno, in an Italian Neo-Renaissance style.

Hua Lamphong Train Station is Bangkok’s main train station, it is very large, extremely busy and hectic so it’s a good idea to do a little planning before you go.
