The Villa Phra Sumen is located on Rattanakosin Island in central Bangkok, about 5 minutes walk from Khao San Road. This means you have access to all the local restaurants, bars and attractions without the hassle of the horrendous noise from the Khao San Road nightclubs. You are also very close to the canal so have easy access to the taxi boat system which is an excellent and very cheap way to get around the city and dodge the notoriously bad traffic. In addition, you are only minutes away from the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, the location couldn’t be much better.

The hotel itself is a beautiful, modern boutique-style hotel, which offers a peaceful oasis of calm to which you can retreat from the chaotic hustle and bustle of Bangkok. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and tastefully decorated with modern fixtures and fittings, this hotel is a cut above the many guest-houses in the area and you’ll realise that as soon as you arrive. Everything is clean and modern, including the fabulous swimming pool, and the staff are friendly, helpful and speak English well. The rooms start at around 1400 baht ($46) which is amazing value for such a delightfully relaxing and comfortable hotel.

In short, if you want to be centrally located in Bangkok, but want something a step up from the usual guesthouses, then this would be a great choice. Plus, you have Khao San Road right on your doorstep, but unlike the people staying there, you will be getting a very good night’s sleep.
