Info
The Ekanek Hostel is a highly rated budget hostel in a very central location, offering both shared dorm bunks and private rooms at great prices. However, the Ekanek feels a lot more upmarket than your average hostel, with lots of hardwood and steel creating something of a boutique feel, which at this price point is amazing. Prices start at 330 baht ($11) for a very comfortable bed in a dorm room, which astonishingly includes a very decent breakfast too, it doesn’t get much better than that. The whole hostel is spotless from top to bottom, and the staff are incredibly friendly and will go out of their day to help you, whatever your plans for your day, be it the local temple or nearest mega-mall.
The hostel is located right in the very heart of Bangkok, close to Lumphini Park and about 2 minutes’ walk to Sala Daeng BTS station which makes getting around the city a breeze. The Sam Yan MRT station is also within walking distance, plus Bangkok’s main train station is only a couple of minutes away in a taxi, it is very convenient and ideal for young travelers on a budget who aren’t interested in Khao San Road. There aren’t really any negatives to the Ekanek, it’s clean, comfortable and welcoming, and in a perfect location for shopping, sightseeing or partying, this part of Bangkok has it all at your fingertips, plus $11 for a bed for the night and a proper breakfast just can’t be beaten.
