Baan Dinso

Baan Dinso is a delightful little guesthouse located on Rattanakosin Island in central Bangkok, tucked away in a quiet little spot but only about 10 minutes walk from Khao San Road. It is a more upmarket, boutique-style hotel situated in an old colonial-style house with hardwood floors and tasteful decorations, it almost feels like walking into someone’s home. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, with room rates starting at around 1800 baht ($59.30) per night which includes breakfast for two people (or you can book the single room without breakfast for 750 baht ($24.70)). All rooms have air-conditioning, Wi-Fi access, free mineral water and coffee plus a minibar and flat-screen TV with DVD player.

The location is central, being a stone’s throw from the Democracy Monument, and only a short walk from the Phanfa Bridge which allows you cheap and convenient access to the rest of the city via the river taxis. The huge road which the monument sits on, known as Ratchdamnoen Klang Road, also has numerous bus stops, which if you’re feeling brave also allow cheap transport around the city, just be wary of busy times however as the public buses are not air-conditioned and can get quite uncomfortable in the midday heat. Baan Dinso also offers easy access to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, both being a few minutes away in a taxi. In short, Baan Dinso is a clean, comfortable place to stay in a very central, but quiet location with plenty of shopping, restaurants and bars within walking distance, and would be perfect for couples on a budget.
